You all know that SelfEco strives to be the most Earth-Friendly caterware & garden company on this planet. Our products are made from renewable plants, we hardly ever print in our offices, we grow our own indoor salsa garden, and heck, some of us drive electric vehicles to work. But being Earth-friendly isn't just about your immediate actions and what you post about on Instagram. Did you know that we strategically chose our manufacturer for Earth-friendly reasons as well?

For instance, our manufacturing company uses a roof top chiller unit that replaces a traditional in-house chiller. The chiller unit is needed to run cooled water through their equipment and molds to keep a controlled temperature to maintain tolerance and consistency. The roof top unit uses an estimated 65% less energy!

One of the easiest ways to make a move towards being Earth-friendly is to update your lighting wherever possible to more energy efficient lighting. Which they've done. They've also installed motion activated lighting in their conference room and lunch room to avoid light usage when no one's in the room.

Last fall, they updated their front landscaping replacing sod and planters with rock, boulders and hearty perennials. This is a drought resistant solution that needs minimal water and maintenance. And not to mention, easy on the eyes too.

Lastly, in our opinion, the most important way to become more Earth-friendly. Our manufacturing company has replaced all of their lunch room plasticwear with SelfEco utensils! Because of this, they've also started to compost within their facility. This is a great way to avoid organics ending up in our landfills. They have less trash going into the dumpster and more going into recycling and composting. There is a lot of value in compost and we are proud that they are adding daily organics into the process!

We hope by sharing our manufacturer's sustainability practices encourages you to implement your own practices at the office or in your home. Happy Earth Day and make Every Day Earth Day!
